Buddy Program Code of Conduct & Ground Rules

       

1. Respect

  • Treat each other with respect regardless of nationality, gender, religion, orientation, or background.
  • No discriminatory, offensive, or inappropriate behavior.

2. Communication

  • Establish contact within 7 days after matching.
  • Inform each other in advance if unavailable.
  • Respond within a reasonable time frame.

3. Reliability

  • Keep agreed meetings.
  • If you cannot attend, cancel early.
  • Do not disappear without explanation.

4. Boundaries

  • The buddy program is not:
    • A dating service
    • A financial support system
    • A housing provider
  • No pressure for social, political, or religious activities.

5. Safety

  • Meet first in public places.
  • Respect personal boundaries.
  • Report serious issues to the local board at nbu@esnbg.org.

6. Duration

  • Continued friendship and communication beyond the buddy program duration is completely voluntary.

7. Representation

  • Local buddies represent ESN New Bulgarian University and thus ESN Bulgaria as well as the New Bulgarian University community.
  • Behavior should reflect professionalism and inclusivity.
